This winter I have taken over the windows @RECIDIVIST vintage shop & Baobab Cafe’s walls with PEEP SHOW TARTS,
After working for over a decade in Soho, London’s West End, I was transfixed by the graphic design, sleaze, and smut. I started collecting ‘Tart cards’ which are A6 size illicit sex adverts splattered all over the inside of telephone boxes. The cards have been around since the 80’s so have been through many graphic design styles. My poster designs are a mash up of old and new Soho red light district pictures and tart cards.
I'm really interested in how sex and gender is presented to the world. Almost all of the tart cards I found had women as the subject, so I designed a few tongue in cheek male versions.
